Todays turn downs, were more moderate than Mondays losses in excess of minus one percent, but the indices, nevertheless, posted decreases of -.81 percent for the DJIA, -.58 percent for the S&P500 and -.44 percent for the NASDAQ.
It was the third straight drop for the DJIA in as many days, and the eights this year. For the NASDAQ and the S&P500, on the other hand, today was their second loss in a row; the 11th and 12th occurrence in 2008, respectively.
Looking at past performance this year, as a proxy for what might happen on Wednesday, the S&P500, on the next day, has seven declines but 29 increases; the NASDAQ shows 26 gains and eight decreases; while the DJIA has only three negative closes and 29 positive days.
